Human Sexuality - - Part 1

So I am reading a book entitled "Human Sexuality Opposing Viewpoints"

I happen to be browsing the library and stumbled upon it. It a collection of research papers... well some are research, some are strictly opinionated...on different topics dealing with human sexuality. Some are highly interesting and some are, too me, idiotic. So i guess i will organize this blog by having a heading for each paper in the book, do a quick synopsis and then my opinion. Or maybe summerize all the papers (i have read so far) and the share my opinion... idk lol we'll see
Here we go:

Chapter 1: What is the purpose of sex?

Viewpoint 1 --The Purpose of Sex Is Biological Advantage
The sole gist of this paper was that SEX purpose was to provide genetic variability with in the species which in turns increases chances of survival.

I do not believe that is the purpose of sex. Although I do agree that it does provide and advantage for survival. Sex was probably selected for naturally. Maybe for the first sexual organisms this was the purpose. But now? No sex has evolved. Providing biological advantage is peachy but not the PURPOSE.

Viewpoint 2 -- The purpose of Sex Is to Develop Love Bonds
This author suggest that love developed from sex, since human intercourse is so extremely different from any other primate. "...love evolved from sex in order to ensure two caretakers --mother and father-- for a human infant and thus increase chances of survival."

MAN lol I have never heard that before. This would have to be one of the most interesting papers I have ever read. This author offered a postulate on how sex has evolved and why. He mentions estrus! I believe, but dont quote me, that all nonhuman mammal females have an estrus cycle. Meaning they are only fertile at that point in time and only appealing to the male species at that time. I'm thinking pheromones have to do with this. I guess estrus can resemble human female ovulation, but the day a dude can tell me I am ovulating and be correct... oh my. Anywho the lost of umm early hominid estrus can be associated with natural selection. It is assumed that some female hominids were sexually receptive longer than others. The male hominids liked them better lol so nature selected for the continuity of the sexually receptive for a long time gene lol. Estrus disappeared. At the same time in the evolutionary lineage... Lucy, the Australopithecus afarensis lol decided to stand up and walk, leading to the selection of bipedalism! With this new uprightness... boobs appeared lol and the genitals could now be entered from the front lol Frontal intercourse is sooooo homo..sapien =]
This, according to the author, led to love... well not solely the frontal entry, the development of speech had something to do with it. With frontal entry the hominids could now look at each other and more skin to skin contact was achieved.
Now here is the kicker lol This gazing into one's eyes and touching phenomenon releases endorphins and things to give a overall sense of well-being and euphoria lol Endorphins and things are released in the same fashion as a baby...by the touch of one's mother. At first i was like EWWW wtf lol then it made sense. The author attributed the first love bond to be between mother and infant. So if this frontal intercouse thing mimics the chemical release of a mother touch. Love between male and female was accomplished... OH SHIT lol
The writer then goes on to say that it was the male that nature had to capture in love, to offer machoness to the mother and child (my interpretation)

Ok thats all i can type write now... i'll continue =]
